
Charles Robert Ashbee founded a Guild of Handicrafts in 1888 in the east end of London, which he moved to Chipping Camden,
Gloucestershire
in 1902 and afterwards to Broad Camden. This did not prove a major success and was finally dissolved in 1919, when Ashbee left the county. Others associated with the guild remained such the woodworker Alec Miller
